Julius Caesar – A Powerful Collaboration Between Pinchgut Opera and Abel Productions
When Pinchgut Opera, under the artistic direction of Erin Helyard, asked us to film Julius Caesar, it was more than just a recording. It was a chance to bring the emotion, energy, and artistry of live opera to a wider audience.
We worked closely with their marketing team to capture every detail, from the drama on stage to the feeling in the room. The shoot took place during the general rehearsal, with a private audience of loyal patrons. And the venue? Sydney’s stunning City Recital Hall. The atmosphere was electric.
Our team at Abel Productions filmed the full performance for archival purposes. This was filmed in the beautiful, state of the art, City Recital Hall in the heart of Sydney, Australia.
At the same time, we were tasked with creating a short, powerful promo. The deadline was tight. We had just a few days to turn it around and deliver something that truly reflected the show’s impact.
The result? The most-watched promo in Pinchgut’s history.
It helped drive their most successful crowdfunding campaign to date.
Audience members, donors, and opera lovers responded instantly and tickets sold fast.
This project shows what’s possible when a marketing team and a production crew work in sync. With the right footage and storytelling, a video can do more than promote a show, it can put bums on seats and move people to action.
